Humility

We must not fear lest the knowledge of His gifts make us proud, so long as we are attentive to this truth, that whatsoever there is of good in us comes not from ourselves. Alas! Do mules cease to be disgusting beasts simply because they are laden with the precious and perfumed goods of the prince? St. Francis De Sales

So, an ass is an ass still, though it carry a thief's booty or a King's bounty.

Somewhat similarly I find this kind of thing here with people thinking I'm something I'm not because I'm white and foreign. Being white here automatically moves one up the ladder of social ranks. It's enough that I think too much of myself already! I'm often frutstrated by people treating me more than I am and as equally frustrated for being taken advantage of. I want people to understand I am not better than them, I may have more money, but I also have problems that come with that as well. Like having to spend several thousand dollars to fly home to see family (which I haven't been able to do in several years), when they can take a bus home for a dollar. I am also not any better, I suffer from the same problems of self and agony of this world as anyone. I am as any other ass, and if any good comes from me, it is not I but He.
