If misfortunes happen we
will make them worse by grieving over them.
"I must die says
Epictetus, " but must I then die sorrowing? If I'm put in chains, must I
then also lament? If I must go into exile, Can I be prevented from going there
with cheerfulness and contentment? You say, 'I will put you in prison.'
Man, what are you saying?
You can put my body in prison, but my mind not even Zeus himself can over
power."
