"It is not for the fresh cheek, the full lip, the fair forehead, the parted sweeps of sunny hair, and the girlish charm of form and features, that we love the wives who have walked hand in hand with us for years, but for new graces, opening each morning like flowers in the garden, their predecessors having accomplished their beautiful mission and gone to seed. Old love renewed again, through new motives to love, is certainly a thing lovely in itself, and desirable by all whose ambition and happiness it is to sit supreme in a single heart...... "

Okay, I'll have to make a comment about my own post. What a great line - New graces in our spouse, old love renewed again through new motives to love.
I think that is God's plan for our marriages, to grow and become better each year, not slowly decay because we have few 'new graces' to offer our spouse. Am I offering 'new motives' to my spouse? Certainly not like I should. I'll begin today.

An old man was asked (who had visited his wife everyday for 5 years)--a wife who clearly had no idea who he was because of severe Alzheimers; "Why do you keep going to see her everyday when you know she doesn't even know who your are?" His response was: "Because I know who she is".

The soul is ageless. Even after the mind has gone and/or the body looks pretty old and ugly; when we love the soul of a person our love is ageless, as well.

Keep that promise! Begin today.

Great story D.L.
It is a fine thing that God graced our world with love being the most powerful emotion. I love Him for that.
