The following is written by the photographer Yanglong7 from Flickr - "This guy is badly deformed and unable to rise. Each day he writes a poem on the pavement that describes his background and the difficulties he faces. Most people don't bat an eye at this in Guangzhou, and some even trampled over the words he had poured out."

"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered". Pr. 21:13

I see that the photographer knows how often this man comes, what he writes about, and has told his story. I have no doubt that he heard the cry of this poor man and has offered what he could to him. God help me to hear and see and act.

My thoughts are shed
where others tread,
when I bare my soul
with sidewalk chalk.

Trampling shoes
bruise pastel hues
that outline my body
of concrete verse.

But as they stroll,
dust stains the sole—
lifting passages
from graffiti sonnets.

Taken in strides,
these words hitch rides
and scatter to new climes—
until worn down by time.

I'm loving that. Where did this come from? I know where it came from, the depths of a sensitive soul, but from whose soul did this arise?

Hi Fred :)

Very riveting photo!

A deformed man should abe sitting at home and he should be taken care by the parents or relatives.Or the government should provide assistance.

In this case, I think this man is not getting any help at all. But he has to survive. Therefore, there he is on the pavement, irrespective of weather conditions, trying his best to eke out a living without depending on any one. He is an inspiration to us!

This man has a very stout heart and a great will power to survive in this tough world inspite of the odds.

How often we complain that we don't have this or that when in fact we are blessed in so many ways.

What have we done special to get so many privileges and benefits!

We could have been like this handicapped man!

We have to be eternally thankful to God for giving us all our faculties and limbs and and on top of it bless us with so many wonderful things in life.

Great post! Many thanks for sharing.

Have a wonderful day :)

Hi Joseph,
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate the things you notice and mention about this man's perserverance under such extreme circumstances. I agree, he is an inspiration. So many needs in our world, may we that have so much do the best with it we can.
Many blessings,
Fred

You can find this poem (entitled "Impressions") and others at: http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/flaneur/ . I know this because I am the author. However, I did not post it here (and only found it through Google Alerts).

I think it is so appropriate that this poem in particular found its way here, so I'm giving permission for it to stay. The photo, poem, and circumstances all fit together perfectly.

Metaphors aside, I hope this person's luck has improved. Everyone needs a dose of good fortune once in awhile.
